Match of the Month: Karyn & Lydia

Mentee Lydia and Mentor Karyn were matched last October through our mentor2.0 program at Englewood High School when Lydia was a sophomore. This match exemplifies how opposites attract. Karyn is very outgoing, encouraging, and confident. She thinks the utmost of Lydia and helps her recognize her inherent strengths and talents.  Lydia, on the other hand, is soft-spoken and reserved. She is very hardworking both in school and her extracurricular activities of volleyball and indoor soccer, which keep her very busy.

Karyn’s commitment to Lydia and their match is evident in each of their interactions. In addition to attending monthly match events, Karyn is active on the iMentor platform, checking in with Lydia regularly, and she makes an effort to attend Lydia’s volleyball games. Their dynamic at match events is a joy to watch. Karyn is boisterous and motivating, always encouraging Lydia to be the amazing person she is, and Lydia is much quieter but fully engaged with Karyn and her positive perspective.

Their Program Coordinator, Becky recently shared, “It’s been inspiring to watch their match relationship develop, and I can’t wait to see what amazing things this power match will accomplish together!”
