Matt and Owar are celebrating four years together in our Sports Buddies program. The pair bring positive energy and an abundance of humor to all of our sporting events including some recent events like our Football Skills Challenge, “shredding” at Skate City, and competing at our tennis event. Owar is quick to socialize and is always up for some friendly trash talk while Matt’s laid back personality keeps Owar grounded. Their personalities are in perfect balance.
In addition to developing a relationship built on trust and fun, Matt also supports Owar’s academic pursuits. Together the pair created a School Work Contract with a list of specific goals for Owar to strive for in improving his performance during his 7th grade this year. Owar is doing a great job sticking with his plan and has made strides in completing his assignments!
Owar and Matt continue to raise the bar in their match by balancing out their time between various sporting activities and their commitment to empowering Owar to reach his full potential. The two are the epitome of consistency and have built a trusting friendship over the years that truly represents the power and impact of mentoring in the life of a young person!
