Tanya was on her own at age 16 with her new daughter (pictured above with her daughter and grandchildren). She moved in with her boyfriend’s family and participated in a program that allowed her to bring her baby to school.
Those vivid memories of Tanya’s match relationship with her Big Sister Debbie stayed with her. In her mind she could still hear Debbie’s voice telling her that she can go to college if she wants, that she can do anything she wants. Those words always stuck out to her because she had never heard that before.
Because of Tanya’s determination and vision of what was possible for her life and her daughter’s life, she persevered and graduated from high school when her daughter was 2 years old. After graduating from high school, she went straight to nursing school.
. . . But the story doesn’t end there. Next week, look for an email about how mentorship not only impacted Tanya’s life, but future generations.
Help us reach our goal of supporting 20 mentoring relationships for a year! Give today and empower the future for young Coloradans like Tanya. #celebratepotential
