Little Siearra and Big Allison were matched in August 2019 in BBBSC’s mentor2.0 program. Siearra graduated high school in May of 2022 and was accepted into several colleges. Allison attended her graduation (pictured below) and graduation party where she met many of Siearra’s extended family.
“As I was reminded this weekend while talking to Siearra’s family members at her graduation party, BBBSC fosters truly incredible and meaningful connections,” Allison shared.
Siearra will be attending Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. “She’s very interested in majoring in Hotel Management,” Allison said. “I think it’s a great choice for her because being in a place like Steamboat will give her endless opportunities for hands-on training and experience in the hospitality industry–plus, she is really excited to try her hand at snowboarding while she’s there!”
Although Siearra will be moving away, the two plan on continuing their relationship by participating in BBBSC’s Big Futures program which will provide continue match support following graduation.
“Though she is understandably nervous to start school in the fall, especially since she will be the first in her family to attend college, I think her excitement about it is slowly starting to outweigh her anxiety.” Allison shared.
