STARS Mentor of the Year: Daniel

2024 STARS Mentor of the Year Daniel

Daniel, a junior at Rangeview High School in Aurora, was honored as BBBSC’s first STARS Mentor of the Year. Inspired by his older brother’s positive experience in the program, Daniel joined the STARS Peer Mentoring program, where he mentors middle school students at a neighboring school. For Daniel, the challenge of getting to know his mentees is both rewarding and meaningful. He understands the value of having a trusted role model during formative years and is proud to provide that support to the younger kids he works with.

One of Daniel’s most memorable experiences with STARS was a community service project where his mentoring group created and delivered care packages with essential supplies to unhoused residents in Aurora and Denver. “To me, MentorLife means being a person that others can look up to,” Daniel shared.

2024 STARS Mentor of the Year DanielThrough STARS, Daniel has not only helped others but also developed his own leadership and confidence. “Being a part of STARS has helped me become bolder and strengthen my leadership skills,” he reflected. Outside of mentoring, Daniel is an outstanding student and athlete, participating in lacrosse, football, and wrestling. He also served as a student leader at the STARS National Conference, guiding over 100 mentees through a weekend of activities. Looking ahead, Daniel plans to continue mentoring and pursue a career in the medical field after high school.
