Little Reed and Big Josh have been matched since February of 2021 in the Community Based program. As a youth, Josh was a Little and understands first-hand the importance of mentoring. Josh is still in touch with his Big and said “He lives in Pittsburg, PA and is proud that I have become a Big Brother. He enjoys hearing stories of Reed and my adventures.”
Reed and Josh have bonded over activities that they both enjoy, such as fishing, playing games, bowling, baking and cooking, and watching movies. Thanks to supporters, they have attended all sorts of sporting events like Air Force football game, Vibes Baseball game, Rockies Baseball game and a Switchback soccer game. The pair have also participated in a handful of BBBSC sponsored events. Some of their favorites have been the summer picnic, pumpkin carving, indoor gold and pie baking. Josh said, “We compromise with each other; I will play Laser Tag and he will do something like go to the Pioneer Museum.”
“Over the last two years, I have watched Reed slowly come out of his shell.” Josh shared. “I have seen him become a little more outgoing, become more willing to talk and open up about things, and I’ve watched his confidence grow.”
Josh recently spoke at the Annual Big Little Breakfast in Pikes Peak. He talked about being able to come full circle with his mentorship journey and the impact it has had on him and Reed.
