There are 30,000 American children waiting for a mentor. The Arby’s Foundation is helping sound the call for Bigs with a new TV spot called “The Big Wait” which is running as a public service announcement on cable and digital channels including AMC, USA, FOX, Discovery and Hulu. See the video for yourself below.
“When children have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and focus on academics,” said Stuart Brown, executive director of the Arby’s Foundation. “Today’s youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them reach their potential. We want to draw attention to the need for more Bigs.” For more on Stuart Brown’s thoughts on the transformative power of mentorship, see this article he recently wrote on the topic.
In addition to the PSA, Big Brothers Big Sisters was chosen as one of three nonprofits to receive proceeds from Arby’s fall and spring in-store fundraising campaigns in 2018 and 2019. The 2018 campaign raised more than $550,000 for BBBS affiliates nationwide, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado specifically has received more than $36,000 so far from the campaigns. These funds will help BBBSC provide 1,900 youth with caring adult mentors to help them realize their full potential. Thank you to the Arby’s Foundation for supporting the proven power of one-to-one mentoring!
