How COMMUNITY BASED MENTORING Works
One-to-One Mentoring
- Matches caring adult mentors with youth (ages 9-14) based on shared interests, background, and goals.
- Meets 2-4 times per month in the community for fun, engaging, and impactful experiences.
Flexible, Personalized Mentorship
- Bigs and Littles choose activities together based on shared interests—sports, arts, college visits, career exploration, or simply hanging out!
- Supports youth development in academic, social, and emotional growth.
Making a Lifelong Difference
- Youth in the program see improved self-confidence, stronger relationships, and greater success in school and life.

Community-Based Mentoring pairs Littles with caring Bigs who meet regularly in the community to build a consistent, supportive one-to-one relationship.
How does Community-Based Mentoring work?
Bigs and Littles spend time together outside of school doing everyday activities based on shared interests, such as visiting parks, libraries, or community events.
Who can participate in Community-Based Mentoring?
Community-Based Mentoring serves youth across a range of ages and backgrounds. Bigs are adults who complete screening and training and can commit to a mentoring relationship.
How often do Bigs and Littles meet?
Most matches meet a few times each month. Schedules are flexible and built around the availability of both the Big and the Little.
How does BBBSC support Community-Based mentoring matches?
BBBSC Match Specialists provide ongoing guidance, resources, and check-ins to help ensure each mentoring relationship is safe, supported, and successful.
