This weekend, we proudly celebrate the graduating seniors across the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado community. Reaching graduation is a significant milestone that reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and growth. We could not be more excited to congratulate each of our graduates as they take the next step toward their future.
While every student’s journey is unique, one thing remains consistent: having a supportive adult in your corner can make a lasting difference.
Research from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America shows that youth matched with a mentor are 20% more likely to enroll in college than their peers. Long-term studies have also found that mentored youth earn higher incomes as adults, experience improved educational outcomes, and are more likely to achieve economic mobility later in life. Mentorship helps close opportunity gaps by providing encouragement, guidance, and a trusted relationship during some of life’s most important years.
The impact begins long before graduation. Studies have found that youth participating in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are less likely to skip school, less likely to engage in risky behaviors, and more likely to stay focused on their goals. These positive outcomes help build the foundation for success both inside and outside the classroom.
